Drive to Eniwa Valley, where you can enjoy three unique waterfalls!
Eniwa is just a short drive from Sapporo and Chitose. If you feel like getting in touch with nature while driving, how about visiting Eniwa Valley? There are three unique waterfalls scattered throughout the valley where you can stroll around!
Driving from Sapporo on Route 453 toward Chitose, turn left at the junction with Route 117. Follow Road No. 117 toward Eniwa for about 6 km and you will arrive at Eniwa Valley. The first waterfall to appear is Hakusen-no-taki (White Fan Waterfall).
It is 15 m high and 18 m wide, and was so named because it looks like a pure white fan spread out. The graceful yet powerful sound of the gurgling waterfall is a must-see! The parking lot is well maintained, and it is just a short walk from the car, making it easy for anyone to get to the site.
Incidentally, Eniwa Valley is said to be wonderful during the season of autumn leaves. Indeed, the contrast between the waterfall and the autumn leaves is quite picturesque! A little further from Shirofan Falls in the direction of Eniwa is Lalmanai Falls.
Both sides of Lalmanai Falls are lush with greenery, and the waterfall flows down dynamically from between large trees. This area also seems to attract more visitors during the season of autumn foliage, when its expression changes even more.
There is a well-maintained parking lot near Lalmanai Falls, but there is no space to park at Sandan Falls, which we will introduce next. It is about 300 meters from Lalmanai Falls, so you should head there on foot.
The three-tiered waterfall is named after the three tiers of white band-like waterfalls cascading down. The view from the bridge and the view from the waterfall viewing plaza below the bridge give different impressions. Each of the three waterfalls in Eniwa Valley is clearly marked with a superb view point, so please refer to them if you want to take pictures.
While it is a great deal to enjoy three unique waterfalls at once, there are several other places where you can get in touch with nature in Eniwa Valley. For example, about 4 km from Sandan-no-taki Falls toward Eniwa is "Midori-no-Furusato Forest Park. About 2 km further from there is the Fishery River Dam.
A leisurely stroll along the river is a great way to take in the view of the huge Fisherman's River Dam and Lake Eniwa, which is beautiful when there is no wind. It will be an important healing time to get away from daily life and wash your mind. Nearby is "Lake Eniwa Jiyu Hiroba" where you can barbecue, and "Sakura Park" where about 300 cherry trees including Chishima-zakura bloom.
Eniwa Valley has so many attractions that we have only briefly introduced here. If you live in the neighboring cities, towns, and villages, why don't you choose Eniwa Valley for your weekend drive? You will surely feel refreshed and invigorated.
