Take a Drive to Eniwa Valley and Enjoy Three Unique Waterfalls!

Eniwa is the perfect driving distance from Sapporo and Chitose. If you're looking to connect with nature on your drive, how about a trip to Eniwa Valley? There, you'll find three unique waterfalls scattered within walking distance of each other!

From Sapporo, take National Route 453 towards Chitose. When you reach the junction with Hokkaido Prefectural Road 117, turn left. Drive for about 6 km along Road 117 towards Eniwa, and you'll arrive at Eniwa Valley. The first waterfall you'll see is Hakusen Falls (Hakusen-no-taki).

Standing 15 meters high and 18 meters wide, it is said to have been named for its resemblance to a spread-out white fan (hakusen). The elegant yet powerfully roaring waterfall is a truly impressive sight! There's also a well-maintained parking lot right next to it, making it easily accessible for everyone, which is a great bonus.

Eniwa Valley is said to be especially stunning during the autumn foliage season. Indeed, the contrast between the waterfall and the autumn colors creates a picturesque scene! A little further towards Eniwa from Hakusen Falls is Rurumap Falls.

Rurumap Falls is flanked by lush greenery, cascading dynamically from between large trees. This waterfall also takes on a different character during the autumn season, attracting even more visitors.

There is a parking lot near Rurumap Falls, but there is no parking space for the next waterfall we'll introduce, Sandan Falls. It's about a 300-meter walk from Rurumap Falls, so let's head over on foot.

Sandan Falls was named for the way the water flows down in three tiers (sandan), like a white ribbon. The view from the bridge and the view from the waterfall viewing plaza below the bridge offer different impressions. At all three waterfalls in Eniwa Valley, the best photo spots are clearly marked, so be sure to check them out if you want to take pictures.

Being able to enjoy three unique waterfalls at once is a great deal, but Eniwa Valley has several other places where you can connect with nature. For example, about 4 km from Sandan Falls towards Eniwa is the "Midori no Furusato Forest Park." And about 2 km further from there is the "Izarigawa Dam."

Take a leisurely stroll while gazing at the massive Izarigawa Dam and the beautiful Lake Eniwa, whose surface is perfectly still on windless days. It's the perfect opportunity to get away from the daily grind and enjoy a precious, healing moment to cleanse your soul. Nearby, you'll also find "Lake Eniwa Jiyu Hiroba," where you can have a barbecue, and "Sakura Park," where about 300 Chishima cherry trees bloom.

Even with just this quick introduction, Eniwa Valley has so much to see. If you live in a nearby city or town, why not choose Eniwa Valley for a weekend drive? You're sure to leave feeling refreshed and revitalized.
