"We invite you to a 𝑲𝑼𝑺𝑯𝑰𝑹𝑶 𝑪𝑰𝑻𝒀 in the early Heisei era"
It's a staple that I've been eating since I was a child, and even as an adult I still go there casually, and when I go back home I can't feel at ease unless I go to that restaurant... Kushiro introduces these long-selling Kushiro foods in the style of a TV show from the early Heisei period, when Japan was booming.

The video is 4 minutes and 53 seconds long, but the quality is so good that you'll want to watch it for about an hour straight! There's even a little fun hidden in the time and weather displayed. From here, we'll introduce some of Kushiro's best-selling foods that are featured in the video!
Long-standing popularity! Kushiro's best-selling foods
"Kashiwanuki" from Chikuroen Azumaya Main Branch
First up is "Kashiwanuki" from Takeroen Azumaya Main Store, a long-established soba restaurant founded in 1874.
The delicious aroma of the broth and the savory flavor of the chicken will whet your appetite. The "Kashiwanuki" dish, beloved by the people of Kushiro, is made by removing the noodles from the Shiwasoba. It is surprising to learn that the people of Kushiro often eat the main course of soba noodles with this "Kashiwanuki".
Kadoya's "Grilled whelk"
Next up is the grilled whelk from Kadoya, a shop located on a corner of Suehiro, downtown Kushiro.
The green whelks used don't get hard even when boiled, and are very satisfying to eat! Insert the skewer into the whelk and slowly twist it to remove it. It looks so delicious! Make sure to eat every last bit of the special sauce that's left inside. You can also take Kushiro's specialty grilled whelks home with you.
"Chocolate Parfait" from France Sakan
This is the "Chocolate Parfait" from France Tea House, a long-established coffee shop.
I ordered the chocolate parfait from the many menu items along with a blended coffee. It was a gorgeous dish of ice cream and whipped cream topped with plenty of fruits such as melon and banana. It's also a great place to stop by for a "last parfait" after enjoying some drinks.
Both of these foods have long been loved by locals and are truly "long-time hit foods." We spoke to Kushiro, the producer of this video, about how he created this video, which is full of his love for Kushiro.
