Ugh!
Wakkanai stings!
When a photo was posted of what appeared to be Wakkanai, the northernmost tip of Hokkaido made of wood and stuck in the stomach, it garnered over 60,000 likes on X. Users said, "Wow, oops," "Hokkaido was a weapon...?" What's going to happen next? Some of them said, "I want to know what that Hokkaido is used for." What in the world is this Hokkaido made of wood?
It is a wood carving work by Kiborino KONNO! A new world of elaborately crafted art!
The owner of this post is actually "Kiborino Konnno," a wood-carving artist who has become a hot topic on SNS and TV. The Hokkaido made of wood in the image was part of a wood-carving artwork being exhibited at the "Kiborino Konnno Exhibition" currently being held in Sapporo. Among the many precision wood carvings by Kiborino Konnno at the exhibition, Gokatteya Yokan, a popular souvenir of Hokkaido, was also reproduced in elaborate wood carving. Visitors to the exhibition can see the actual piece in person.
Round canned yokan made by wood carving.
The slightly transparent yokan, the overly detailed patterns and letters on the package, and the thin threads extending from the yokan were all reproduced by hand.
This time, Gokatteya Honpo sponsored the "Kiborino Konnno Exhibition Sapporo" and allowed us to make this product.

Other surprising wood carvings include food that looks just like the real thing and raw eggs that appear transparent! The "sweets" familiar to Hokkaido-area residents have also been reproduced.
