From Crisp to Creamy: A Pro's Sapporo Black Label Transformed by the Pour
The L-shaped counter is the main feature. It's also great that you can charge your devices at each seat.
The only beer on tap is Sapporo Black Label Draft! Using a special pouring technique with a "Swing Faucet," you can enjoy a unique pint you can't get at home, from the crisp and refreshing "Ichido-tsugi" (single pour) to the rich and flavorful "Sando-tsugi" (three-part pour) with its fluffy foam.
The delicious "Sando-tsugi" with its fluffy foam, 750 yen.
One of the most popular options is "Milko" (650 yen), a Czech-style beer where the glass is filled only with foam. With its pure white appearance, it's a one-of-a-kind drink that's light and refreshing yet still has the full flavor of beer. The fun of Takano Beer Stand is enjoying the change in taste depending on the pouring style.
A heavenly experience for your throat and through the foam! "Milko," 650 yen.
The beer cocktail "Cassis Milko," 700 yen.
Three types of snacks are available: nuts, edamame, and wasabi-kaki-pi. You're also welcome to bring your own snacks.
The Secret to Deliciousness: The Rare "Swing Faucet Server" and the Pourer's Skill
The owner, Mr. Takano, a huge beer lover, is from Otofuke Town.
I briefly mentioned the "Swing Faucet" earlier, but it's actually the first of its kind in the Tokachi area—a reproduction of an early Showa-era cylindrical ice-cooled server. It's an extremely rare server where the beer flows vigorously through a long, 25-meter thick beer line. Because the beer rushes through the line, it's incredibly difficult to pour, and an amateur can't handle it properly. What's more, it's so rare that you can only enjoy it at about 50 establishments nationwide.
A rare server and a skilled pourer who can handle it. The secret to the deliciousness of Takano Beer Stand is the soft, smooth taste of Sapporo Black Label Draft that can only be achieved when these two elements come together.
The owner, Mr. Takano, has always loved beer but worked in a completely unrelated profession for many years. However, after experiencing an illness, he decided, "I'm going to do what I love!" and opened the stand. He learned the art of pouring by training from morning till night under the guidance of the famous "Beer Stand Shigetomi" in Hiroshima Prefecture, a well-known spot for beer lovers.
The icon of "Beer Stand Shigetomi" can be found somewhere in the shop.
A pint poured by Mr. Takano shows his dedication in every single glass, from the temperature of the glass to the handling of the beer. Each beer has its own delicious character, but watching Mr. Takano pour is a treat in itself—every movement is elegant and smooth. He makes something that should be incredibly difficult look effortless.
Incredibly Difficult!? Try Pouring Your Own Beer with the "Swing Faucet Server"
For those who want to truly understand Mr. Takano's mastery and deepen their beer knowledge, the "Pouring Experience" (900 yen) is a must-try! Instead of having a pro pour for you, you get to use the "Swing Faucet" server yourself. The beer shoots out with incredible force, making it surprisingly difficult to pour! When you try it yourself, you'll understand the pouring angle, the timing, and just how amazing the professionals are. It might take a little courage, but just ask for the "Pouring Experience!"
Mr. Takano's dedication to beer doesn't stop there! The beer is rested for about two days to settle before being served. The light, thin-walled glasses, which enhance the drinking experience, are washed with a special sponge for beer glasses and an unscented, uncolored detergent. They are rinsed with cold water in a straight stream—never hot water—and air-dried without wiping to maintain their pristine condition. You can feel his love for beer in every detail.
The logo, which he designed himself, is inspired by the shape of the swing faucet.
Although Sapporo Black Label is a familiar beer, this experience makes you realize just how delicious it can be when poured with such care and technique. "Sapporo Black Label has its brewers, its pourers, and its drinkers. That's why I want to serve it in a way that truly elevates its flavor," says Mr. Takano. Behind his relaxed and gentle demeanor lies a deep passion for beer. Be sure to visit and experience it for yourself.
On sunny days, you can also enjoy a drink outside at the terrace seating.
