From Precious Perfumes to the Scents of Great Figures: The Scent Exhibition
The Scent Exhibition, a unique hands-on event enjoyed through the sense of smell, is being held at NORBESA in Sapporo. In addition to precious fragrances like castoreum and musk deer, the exhibition features a special section new to Hokkaido: "Scents of Great Figures." Here, you can experience scents inspired by historical figures, such as the aromatic wood said to have been used by samurai warlords before battle (※based on various theories) and a scent created in the image of the late Edo period hero, Sakamoto Ryoma.

The exhibition also features "intensely smelly items," including Surströmming (canned fermented herring), known as the world's smelliest food, and stinky tofu, which has been known to stop trains. If you're curious, be sure to experience them at the venue.

Jazz Echoes Throughout Sapporo: SAPPORO CITY JAZZ - PARK JAZZ LIVE 2025
The largest outdoor main stage: the Odori Park 2-chome venue
At 12 venues across Sapporo, including Odori Park, cafes, halls, and historical buildings, a diverse lineup of jazz musicians from all over Japan will perform live. With various musical styles and band formations, it's a great opportunity to enjoy music while strolling through the city.

Amazingly, all performances are free to watch (some venues require a food or drink order), offering a rare chance to casually enjoy jazz. The main outdoor venue will have food trucks, allowing you to enjoy a live show with a beer in hand. It's an event where the charm of music and the city come together to color the Sapporo summer.
Live performances will also be held in "Chi-Ka-Ho," the main underground artery for Sapporo citizens
