Stone-Oven Pizza from Just 600 Yen!? A Super Popular Takeout Pizzeria with Authentic Flavor
The name of the shop is "Ishigamayaki Grazie." It's an authentic pizzeria that bakes its pizzas in a stone oven with firewood. The taste is incredible, but what's even more surprising is the price. It's no wonder it's so popular!
Grazie is located in Kitahiroshima City, right next to the Mitsui Outlet Park.
(*Note added later) "Ishigamayaki Grazie" permanently closed on September 30, 2023.
Although it's takeout only with no eat-in space, customers are constantly coming and going. If you just show up to order, you might have to wait for two hours (!), so it's best to order in advance via LINE.
"Why is it so popular?" you might wonder. One of the reasons is the magnificent stone oven that sits impressively at the back of the shop.
This stone oven is made from Sapporo soft stone, which is quarried in Sapporo City. It's said to have excellent heat conduction and heat retention properties. Baking at high temperatures creates a texture that's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
What's more, Grazie uses firewood for baking, which is quite rare. The key to delicious pizza is baking it quickly, and the flames from the burning wood make this secret to deliciousness possible.
Now, let's introduce some of the intriguing pizzas. The most popular is, of course, the 'Margherita.' Grazie uses plenty of ripe cherry tomatoes.
They're not only in the original sauce but also kneaded into the dough, giving it a rich tomato flavor! And the most surprising part? It's only 600 yen, including tax. Even with double cheese, it's just 700 yen, including tax—unbelievably reasonable!
The second most popular is the 'Teriyaki Chicken,' a favorite among both adults and children. It's loaded with chicken and very filling, yet it costs only 1,000 yen, including tax. The reasonable prices are endless! In fact, this pricing reflects the owner's passion.
During his seven years living in Europe, he was struck by how delicious and affordable pizza was. This inspired him to open Grazie, with the hope that people in Japan could enjoy delicious pizza more casually.
Let's highlight one more pizza popular with female customers: the 'Prosciutto Salad' for 1,000 yen, including tax. It's topped with plenty of fresh vegetables and prosciutto, which pairs perfectly with the crispy and chewy crust. And again, it's so affordable!
Grazie also has other items on the menu. One of them is the 'Baked Sweet Potato,' cooked in the stone oven. It's said to be a hidden gem, known for its gooey sweetness.
Be sure to check their official website for other menu items we couldn't cover here, like the pizza of the month. But be warned—you'll definitely want to eat it after looking!
