Okurayama Observatory

The Okurayama Observatory is a one-of-a-kind viewing facility where you can see a panoramic view of Sapporo over the ski jump.

The jump stadium was named 'Okura Schanze' when it opened in 1932, as it was donated to the city of Sapporo by Baron Kishichiro Okura, the second head of the Okura zaibatsu and founder of Hotel Okura. Its name was changed to 'Okurayama Jump Stadium' during major renovations for the 1972 Winter Olympics.

From the observation lounge at an altitude of 307m, you can enjoy a grand panorama of Sapporo city and the Ishikari Plain. In winter, you can enjoy a pure white landscape covered entirely in snow, and on days with no competitions, you can simulate a jumper's perspective from the 'Observation Lounge' behind the starting point. As it is an all-weather stadium where jumping is possible even in summer by spraying water, you may also encounter jumpers practicing.
