Sapporo Waterworks Museum
A water journey to experience at the foot of Mt. A museum where you can play with water and learn about water.
The Sapporo Waterworks Museum was reopened in 2007 (Heisei 19). It is a popular facility that attracts more than 90,000 visitors a year, and in May 2013, the number of visitors topped 500,000, with many tourists from inside and outside of Hokkaido visiting the museum. The museum has many participatory and hands-on attractions that allow visitors to learn about the relationship between people and water and the importance of protecting the natural environment while having fun. Visitors can also take a tour of the adjacent Moiwa Water Filtration Plant to see the water purification facilities in operation. In addition to major events such as the "Waterworks Festa" (held annually around June) and the "Autumn Festival" (held annually around October), water-related craft workshops and storytelling sessions are held from time to time.
