SPOT
Asahiyama Memorial Park
This park was opened in 1970 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Sapporo City. From the observation deck, located at an altitude of 137.5m, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Ishikari Plain, the Sea of Japan, and Sapporo city. Especially at night, the illuminated fountains and the lights of the office buildings in central Sapporo spreading out beyond them create a fantastical scene, making it a highly popular romantic night view spot for couples.
In addition to walking trails, the park has a rest house, a suspension bridge, a playground, and a kids' square, so during the day, not only can you enjoy nature walks, but small children can also have fun with various play equipment. It is about a 15-minute drive up a steep slope from the center of Sapporo, so traveling by car, such as by bus or taxi, is recommended.
