SPOT
Asahiyama Memorial Park
Fantastic night view spreading out before your eyes. A viewpoint from which you can see the whole city of Sapporo.
The park was opened in 1970 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Sapporo. From the observatory located 137.5m above sea level, you can see the Ishikari Plain, the Sea of Japan, and the city of Sapporo. Especially at night, the illuminated fountain and the lights of the office buildings in the center of Sapporo on the other side of the fountain are fantastic, and the park is very popular among couples as a romantic night view spot.
The park has a walking trail, a rest house, a suspension bridge, a playground, and a chibi (small children) square, so small children can enjoy not only a nature walk during the daytime but also various playground equipment. Since it is a 15-minute drive up a steep slope from the center of Sapporo, we recommend taking a bus, cab, or other vehicle.
