Kammon Falls

Overview

This waterfall is located deep in the mountains, about 40 minutes by car from Otake. The spray from the 30-meter-high waterfall is worth seeing. In summer, it is a place full of negative ions. Crayfish also live around the waterfall basin.

About 50 meters upstream from the Shinmon-no-taki Falls is another waterfall, the Shoryu-no-taki Falls. To get to this waterfall, you will have to walk through the river, so please bring boots. The water is not deep, but the current can be fast after heavy rainfall. Please be careful.

To get there, take the Otake-Mibuka Route (Highway 49) from Otake, cross the mountain, and after descending, hit the Shimokawa-Yubu Route (Highway 60). Turn left and follow the Shimokawa-Yubu line. On the right side of the Horonaikoshitoge Pass, you will see a sign that reads "Kammon-no-taki Waterfall Entrance. Continue on the forest road, and on the way you will come to a fork for Kammon-no-taki Falls and Piyasiri Marsh, so head in the direction of Kammon-no-taki Falls. The forest road is not well maintained, so please be careful not to scrape the belly of your car if you are driving an ordinary car.
