Akenogaoka Park "Pira Ri"
"Pira Ri," which means "great cliff" in Ainu, was built in 1996 as one of the projects to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the park.
Towering over the earth, "Pila Ri" literally represents a cliff, but "Pila Ri" also carries another image of "the eye of the earth looking into the future," with the hope that it will continue to watch over the happiness of the people who live in the town.
From the top of the observation tower, which stands 8 meters above the ground, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the town of Makubetsu, the vast, endless fields, and the brave Hidaka and Daisetsu mountain ranges.
