Chiyoda Entei
The Chiyoda Entei, located in the middle part of the Tokachigawa River, was built in 1935 as an agricultural water intake facility in the Chiyoda district of Ikeda Town, and is said to be the largest in Hokkaido.
It is said to be the largest of its kind in Hokkaido, and was recognized as a Hokkaido Civil Engineering Heritage in 2004. It currently plays an important role as a salmon hatchery. The spectacular sight of running water falling from the bank and salmon splashing on the surface is one of the tourist resources of Tokachi.
The sight of countless salmon returning to Ikeda from September to October to spawn is particularly spectacular, and has become a popular tradition in Ikeda Town.
