Railroad Memorial Museum
The site of the former Onishibetsu Station is now the Onishibetsu Bus Terminal.
On the first floor, there is the Tenboku Line Reference Room, which displays a number of tools used at the six stations in Sarufutsu Village, including Kishibetsu Station, such as signboards, tickets, and timetables.
Construction of the old Tenboku Line (via the Sea of Okhotsk) began in 1918 from Otoishikofu to Wakkanai, and reached its terminus in Wakkanai via the airfield (bordering Hamatombetsu Town) and Asakayanomae in 1919, Ashino and Kishibetsu in 1920, and Koishi in 1921.
For a long time, the line served the residents of the village and neighboring towns and villages, and was also responsible for the transportation of coal, but service was terminated in 1989.
Part of the former Tenboku Line track was used as a cycling path, but it is now closed due to frequent bear sightings.
