SPOT
Samani Dam Campsite
Samani Dam is a gravity concrete dam with a height of 44 meters, constructed by Hokkaido in 1975 for the purpose of flood control in the lower reaches of the Samani River. It is also a famous cherry blossom viewing spot known to insiders. The blossoms are at their best from early to mid-May, making it one of the places in Japan where the cherry blossom viewing season arrives latest.
In the summer, you can enjoy camping and river fishing. As it is a lesser-known campsite with few visitors, it is recommended for groups who want to have a great time together. A cooking area is available, but please note that the water is not for drinking. The toilets are of the vault type.
