Mount Tokachi Bogakudai
Mount Tokachi, 930m above sea level
Bogakudai is located directly below the main peak of Mount Tokachi in Daisetsuzan National Park, and offers views of Mount Asahi, the highest peak of Mount Daisetsu, as well as Mount Biei, Biei Fuji, and Mount Kamifurano, all of which are visible as if they were in the distance, and you can enjoy a 360-degree view from Asahikawa City to Furano City below. In the summer, it serves as a base for mountaineering around Mount Tokachi, and the bridge on the way from Shirogane Onsen to Bogakudai was named by the late Asahikawa-born author, Ayako Miura.
■ Autumn leaves: Beginning to change color in late September, peak season: early October
The autumn foliage that spreads across the vast foothills of the Tokachi Mountain Range is magnificent. You can enjoy the various colors of the trees, mainly the Japanese stone pine and white birch. In addition, the autumn leaves and snowfields that appear just after the first snowfall (first snowfall), which can only be seen for a few days each year, are a spectacular sight.
