Former Seto Residence
The Former Seto Residence was built in the 1950s as the residence of Tsunezo Seto, a master of the offshore trawl fishing industry, when Wakkanai was a vibrant front-line base for the trawl fishing industry.
The residence, which opened to the public in 2012, features a reproduction of a banquet scene from that era and exhibits related to Wakkanai's fishing industry, allowing visitors to experience Wakkanai's history.
The former Seto Residence is the first residence in Wakkanai City to be registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. (Registered name: Former Seto Residence Main Building" Registration date: June 2013)
