Wakkanai Park
Wakkanai Park has many monuments including the "Ice and Snow Gate," a symbol of Wakkanai as a tourist town, covering an area of about 45.2 ha. The park also includes the "100th Anniversary Memorial Tower," which combines an observatory and a local museum, and a monument dedicated to Karafuto (now Sakhalin) dogs, which were used as a training ground for dogsledding, known for its Antarctic research and observations in Sakhalin. The site was also used as a training ground for Sakhalin (now Sakhalin) and Antarctic dog sledding.
Adjacent to the park is a 50-hectare "forest park" with a free campground that attracts many visitors every year.
The road in Wakkanai Park is closed during the winter due to its steepness and many curves, but it is a tourist attraction that attracts many visitors, including Wakkanai citizens.
In 2018, the night view from Wakkanai Park was registered as a "Japan Night View Heritage".
