It is an observation spot where Muroran City can be viewed panoramically. The elevation of Mt. Sokuryo is 199.6 meters, and, it is not a very high mountain, but on days with good weather, besides Mt. Yotei, you can overlook as far as Mt. Komagatake and Cape Esan in the distance. Also, it is known also as a treasure house of wild birds. The TV tower existing at the mountaintop, by adding a message and applying, can do light-up from sunset until late night 0 o'clock (from October to March, until late night 23 o'clock), and since the start of the light-up of Showa 63 year, without extinguishing, continues to illuminate the town of Muroran.
