Yushun Sakura Road (Urakawa Town): A captivating cherry blossom tunnel illuminated at night

For about 3 km from the entrance of Yushun no Sato Park, over 1,000 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees line both sides of the road. The tunnel of blooming cherry blossoms delights the eyes of visitors. Noboribetsu Cherry Blossom Avenue (Noboribetsu City): Relax and soothe your soul with hot springs and flower viewing

In early May, the approximately 8 km road from JR Noboribetsu Station towards Noboribetsu Onsen becomes covered by a tunnel of flowers. About 2,000 Ezo-yamazakura cherry trees, carefully planted by locals, bloom in full glory, warmly welcoming visitors to Noboribetsu Onsen and Karurusu Onsen.

Noboribetsu City Museum of Local History and Culture (Noboribetsu City): See rare, light green cherry blossoms

At the Noboribetsu City Museum of Local History, 46 cherry trees of six different varieties bloom over the course of about a month. Among them, the rare Gyoiko variety is popular for its light green petals. The museum's exterior is modeled after Shiroishi Castle, where the Katakura clan of the Sendai domain resided, and combined with the surrounding cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, it offers beautiful scenery in every season.

Silo Observatory (Toyako Town): Enjoy cherry blossoms with magnificent views of Lake Toya and mountains

The Silo Observatory is located on the western shore of Hokkaido's Lake Toya, at the edge of the land surrounding the lake. It's a tourist spot offering a panoramic view of Lake Toya, Nakajima Island, Mt. Usu, Showa-shinzan, and more. Shiribetsu River Ranran Park is located on a riverbank, where vast green spaces and flowerbeds offer delightful scenery throughout the seasons. Usu Zenkoji Temple (Date City): A powerful cherry tree that grew through a giant boulder

On the grounds of Usu Zenkoji Temple, there are several giant cherry trees over 200 years old, with the most famous being the Ishiwari-zakura (stone-splitting cherry tree) that grew while splitting a giant boulder. Many large weeping cherry trees and double-flowered cherry trees are also planted. In addition to cherry blossoms, various other trees and flowers that color the seasons, such as hydrangeas and ginkgo trees, are planted, making it known as a "famous flower spot in Date City."

Shono Sakura Park & Meoto Zakura (Erimo Town): A rare cherry tree where two trunks support each other like a married couple

Shono Sakura Park is widely known as a popular cherry blossom spot where you can see Shono Fishing Port and cherry blossoms together. In the park, there is an Ezo-yamazakura cherry tree estimated to be 300 years old. It is said that what were once two separate cherry trees grew to support each other, eventually becoming one large tree, which is why it's called "Meoto Zakura" (Couple Cherry Trees). It blooms beautifully every year.

Higashi-Ezochi Nanbu-han Jinya-ato Mororan Jinya-ato (Muroran City): Cherry blossoms blooming in the lush green remains of a historic encampment

This is the only nationally designated historic site in the city and one of the representative encampment sites from the late modern period in Hokkaido. This land, where samurai of the Nanbu domain stood guard over the eastern coast of Uchiura Bay at the end of the Edo period, was designated as a historic site in 1934 and has been preserved for a long time. Today, it is enveloped in lush greenery and has become a famous spot for cherry blossoms.
