A shrine that is popular for its SNS-worthy photos! The stunning scenery surrounding "Urasu Shrine"
"Urasu Shrine" in Urausu Town is a historic shrine that was completed in 1910. However, it seems to have recently become a secretly popular spot for people with photography as a hobby. We decided to visit to find out what's going on. Urausu Shrine is located near the Tsurunuma Roadside Station. A large stone torii gate welcomes you.
To get to the shrine grounds, you have to climb the steep stone steps behind the torii gate. It's a bit tough, but if you make the effort and look back, you'll be rewarded with a wonderful view of Tsurunuma Park below.
However, this is not the main attraction for photographers. The Corydalis ambiguis and Dogtooth Violets that spread out like a carpet within the temple grounds are a popular photo spot.
Resisting the urge to take photos, I decided to pay my respects first. Development of Urausu town began in 1892, and land reclamation began in 1898, so this shrine has been with the town since its history.
Once you've finished praying, it's time to enjoy the beautiful flowers. However, be sure to pay attention to areas that are off-limits and observe proper etiquette when viewing the flowers!

The bright blue flowers of the Corydalis ambigua bloom in April and May. The reddish purple petals of the Dogtooth Violets bloom downward and spread wide upward. The best time to see them is April.

You can also see wild animals such as Hokkaido squirrels and Hokkaido chipmunks, as well as wild birds such as great spotted woodpeckers and Japanese tits, and the moment when a Hokkaido squirrel pops out of the flower field is like something out of a fairy tale! It seems that many photographers are waiting in anticipation for this moment.
Again, it is important to observe etiquette when photographing wild animals. With that in mind, we hope you will try to capture that special shot that is just for you!
