Kawashimo Park is known not only for its vast size but also for its excellent facilities.

There is an area in the park called the 'Lilac Forest,' which attracts many visitors from both within and outside Sapporo during the season.

Here, 200 varieties and 1,700 lilac trees are cultivated! Incredibly, it boasts the largest collection in Japan.

Lilacs are often associated with pink and purple, but they are actually classified into seven different colors. A visit to the Lilac Forest will clearly show you the variety of colors.

With so many varieties, as one finishes blooming, another begins. In the Lilac Forest, lilacs continue to bloom from mid-May to early July every year.

This year (2022), the 'Sapporo Lilac Festival' made a comeback at Odori Park, which became news. On May 28th (Sat) and 29th (Sun), events for the Lilac Festival will also be held at Kawashimo Park, serving as the Kawashimo venue.
