Lilies, lavender, sunflowers, cosmos: 3 flower viewing spots in eastern Hokkaido's Okhotsk Sea from early summer to summer!
Early summer is finally upon us in Hokkaido, and colorful flowers are starting to bloom all at once. The Okhotsk Sea in eastern Hokkaido is also now in the best season for flowers. But for those who are wondering where to go, we will introduce flower-viewing spots recommended by local players!
The introduction will be by Ayumi Takai , also known as tykai, a local player from Nakashibetsu Town who is part of "mina ikor," a group formed to fully enjoy the climate and nature of Hokkaido. This time, we asked her to choose three of her favorite spots.
1. The contrast between the sea and lavender: Okhotsk Drift Ice Park Lavender Field (Monbetsu City)
This is a rare spot in Hokkaido where you can enjoy lavender while gazing at the ocean. The combination of the blue ocean and blue sky on a sunny day will give you a refreshing feeling of summer in Okhotsk.

2. Koshimizu Lily Park (Koshimizu Town) - Enjoy a variety of lilies
Although lilies are known for their white flowers, you can encounter many different varieties here. Furthermore, the combination of early and late blooming lilies means you can enjoy them for about a month, making this a spot that is easy to plan and visit.

3. If you want to see sunflowers and cosmos, go to Omagari Lakeside Park (Abashiri City)
Sunflowers start blooming in late July, and can be enjoyed again at the end of summer in September. In September, not only sunflowers but also cosmos begin to bloom, so you can enjoy the pretty flower fields in yellow and pink.
