Yurigahara Park is Now in Full Bloom! Enjoy Around 100 Varieties of Colorful Lilies
The lilies at Yurigahara Park in Kita Ward, Sapporo are now at their peak! As its name, which includes the word 'yuri' (lily), suggests, Yurigahara Park is a famous spot for lilies. Why not come and relax while gazing at the colorful array of these beautiful flowers?
Spanning a vast 25.4 hectares, Yurigahara Park showcases a variety of flowers. Among them, about 100 types of lilies are cultivated, blooming from early June to late August, with the peak season around mid-July.

The park is divided into themed areas, and you can see the lilies in the 'World's Lily Plaza,' marked by its star-shaped flower bed. Be sure to grab a leaflet at the Yurigahara Green Center first to check the park map!

In the central flower bed of the World's Lily Plaza, you can see a vibrant array of lilies. While many people associate lilies with the color white, you'll be amazed by how colorful they can be here!

The star-shaped flower bed is also stunning, with a brilliant contrast of orange and purple. The orange flowers are Ezosukashiyuri lilies, and the purple ones are lavender. This unique collaboration is a delight for visitors' eyes.

The Lily Train, which tours the park, passes near the star-shaped flower bed, offering a lovely view from its windows. Also, taking a photo with the nearby silo would make for an even more picturesque shot.

Yurigahara Park also cultivates wild species of lilies. One of them is the Madonna lily, which blooms in July. With its pure white form, it exudes a noble atmosphere and is said to be a symbol of the Virgin Mary in Europe. While the horticultural varieties born from crossbreeding are certainly beautiful, seeing the original wild species from which they derive feels a little more special.

Another wild species, the Regal lily, blooms in vast colonies around mid-July. The sight of the colony, painted in the color of Regal lilies, is truly spectacular.

Now that the lilies are in full bloom, why not visit Yurigahara Park? A variety of lilies will welcome you with their wonderful floral fragrance. Of course, many other flowers are also in season, so we recommend bringing a picnic lunch and a leisure sheet to make a day of it!
