Now is the best time to visit Yurigahara Park, where you can enjoy about 100 kinds of colorful lilies!
Lilies are in full bloom at Yurigahara Park in Kita-ku, Sapporo! The park is famous for lilies because of the word "Yuri" in the park name. Why don't you come and see the colorful lilies and be healed?
Boasting a site area of 25.4 hectares, Yurigahara Park is home to a wide variety of flowers. Among them, about 100 varieties of lilies are cultivated, and the blooming season starts in early June and ends in late August, with the peak season around mid-July.
Each area has its own theme, and lilies can be seen in the area called "World Lily Plaza," marked by a star-shaped flower bed. First, get a leaflet at the "Yurigahara Green Center" and check the map of the park!
In the central flower bed of the Lilies of the World Plaza, you can see lilies of many colors. Lilies have a somewhat strong image of being white, but they are so colorful!
The star-shaped flower beds also show a brilliant contrast of orange and purple. The orange color is Ezo lily and the purple color is lavender. The collaboration of different colors is a feast for the eyes of visitors to the park.
The lily train that tours the park passes near the star-shaped flower beds, so it would be nice to view them from the train window. It will also look more photogenic when photographed with the nearby silos.
Lilies of the original species are also grown in Yurigahara Park. One of them is the Madonna Lily, which is at its best in July. The pure white color of the Madonna Lily is said to be a symbol of the Virgin Mary in Europe. Of course, the horticultural varieties created through crossbreeding are beautiful, but seeing the original species that forms the basis of these varieties is something a little more special.
It is also around mid-July when large colonies of the other original species, the regal lily, are in full bloom. The colonies, stained with the color of the regal lily, are a sight to behold.
Now is the time to go out to Lily Garden when the lilies are at their best. A variety of lilies greet you with the wonderful scent of flowers. Of course, it is also a good time to bring a picnic lunch and a leisure sheet, as many other flowers are in full bloom!
