The Sapporo Factory's Jumbo Christmas Tree is a popular event that heralds the arrival of winter in Sapporo. In 2025, the lighting ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 1st, and the tree will illuminate the building in a fantastical fashion for approximately two months until Thursday, December 25th. 2024 Jumbo Christmas Tree

The Jumbo Christmas Tree display is a popular winter event that has been held since Sapporo Factory opened in 1993. The approximately 15-meter tree is decorated with approximately 40,000 LED lights and ornaments. The theme for 2025 is "A City Flying with Christmas." A five-minute light and music show is held every hour, creating a festive Christmas atmosphere.

The decorations and performances change every year according to the theme.

At the lighting ceremony on Saturday, November 1st, 10 Light Up Kids selected from a public contest will press the light switches in time with the countdown, causing the jumbo Christmas tree, the atrium's Christmas arch, and the ceiling lights to light up all at once.

A tree from Hiroo Town, Hokkaido, "Santa's Hometown"

The tree is made of a Japanese Sakhalin fir donated every year from Hiroo Town in Hokkaido. Hiroo Town is home to Hiroo Santaland, the first Santa Claus-themed land outside of Norway, established by Oslo, Norway, the hometown of Santa Claus. This year, the tree will once again travel approximately 270 kilometers before being put on display at the Sapporo Factory.
