The Sapporo Factory's Jumbo Christmas Tree is one of the earliest Christmas events to come to Sapporo! This year, in 2024, it will be on display for about two months from November 2nd (Saturday) to December 25th (Wednesday), livening up the city's Christmas mood. The Jumbo Christmas Tree display is a popular winter event that has been held since Sapporo Factory opened in 1993. The 15-meter tree is decorated with about 50,000 LED lights and 1,500 ornaments. A 5-minute light and music show is held every hour, creating a Christmas atmosphere.

At the lighting ceremony on Saturday, November 2nd, Light Up Kids, who were selected from a public contest, will press the light switches in time with the countdown, lighting up the jumbo Christmas tree and the illuminations throughout the building. Also, starting this year, "wood illuminations" will be newly introduced in the building. Approximately 1.8m box-shaped lanterns made from larch and todomatsu trees from Hiroo Town will also be installed.

The tree is made of Japanese cedar, donated every year from Hiroo Town in Hokkaido. Hiroo Town is home to "Hiroo Santa Land," the first Santa Claus-themed Santa Land outside of Norway, the hometown of Santa Claus. This year, the tree will travel 270 kilometers to be put on display at the Sapporo Factory.
