Lake Komke, a stopover for migratory birds, is a brackish lake connected to Okhotsk by a waterway. Katsutoshi Murai
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture, he is a drift ice otaku who loves boats and the sea. After graduating from a university in Shizuoka Prefecture, he engaged in marine research at an environmental research company in Hokkaido, and moved to Monbetsu City to observe drift ice. After retiring, he used his vacation time to establish the "Sea School of Okhotsk (Monbetsu)," a new business model to attract study tours and field studies from outside the region under the concept of "Let's learn from the frozen sea of Okhotsk," and has been accumulating small trials.
