1 Enjoy Food, Live Music, and More! The Sapporo Lilac Festival Brightens Odori and Kawashimo Parks

A classic sign of early summer in Sapporo, the Sapporo Lilac Festival kicks off on May 20th. About 400 lilac trees will be in full bloom in Odori Park, filling the city with their refreshing fragrance. The festival is a beloved annual tradition featuring a music festival, food and drink stalls, and a stamp rally.

At the Odori Park 5-chome venue, you can enjoy cultural activities like tea ceremonies, traditional games, and an antique market. The 6-chome area will feature cafes, sweets, and live music, and will even have a lilac-colored street piano. Over at 7-chome, a wine festival will bring together over 200 varieties of Hokkaido-produced wine. Meanwhile, at Kawashimo Park, you can enjoy strolls and concerts in the "Lilac Forest," home to over 200 different kinds of lilacs.

The popular "strawberry extravaganza" from Yokohama and Osaka is making its Hokkaido debut at Akarenga Garden. The venue will be a strawberry paradise, featuring a wide array of treats from decadent sweets, drinks, and savory dishes to strawberry-themed merchandise. It's a can't-miss event where you can savor the taste of seasonal strawberries and enjoy the vibrant early summer atmosphere with the Former Hokkaido Government Office Building in the background.

An all-star lineup of popular menu items will be available, including parfaits and crepes loaded with strawberries, strawberry pies, daifuku, macarons, and candied strawberries. A giant, two-meter-tall strawberry sculpture will also be on special display, sure to be a popular photo spot.

3 Fun for Kids Too! See the Latest Mobility and Cars Up Close at the ALL TOYOTA MOBILITY FESTIVAL 2026

A hands-on event where you can have fun learning about the present and future of Toyota's mobility. There will be plenty of content to experience the appeal of cars, such as the "Gran Turismo 7 e-Motorsports Experience" using a professional driving simulator and a "Pit Crew Experience" where you can try a real tire change. There are also plenty of activities for children, including a corner where they can take photos wearing racing suits or engineer outfits, a section to create a driver's license-style photo ID card, and workshops for making miniature cars and coloring cars, making it a fun event for the whole family.
