Four luxurious and unique bowls of rice that ignore profitability! Huge servings from "Iwaki" in Naganuma Town!
He then came up with the idea of a "Large Shrimp Bowl" topped with five large shrimp, but after a customer commented, "Isn't this going to cost you a loss?" he decided to change the name to "Red Letter Bowl" and start selling it again.
Not only is it visually impressive, it's also very filling and reasonably priced! This was a bowl of rice that was made at a loss, and it quickly became the restaurant's signature dish. This was the beginning of Iwaki's "Four Great Bowls." So let's take a look at what the four great bowls are, one by one.
First up is the "Akajidon" (1,595 yen including tax). The large shrimps lined up neatly are very appetizing and this is still the most popular menu item. For shrimp tempura lovers, this is an irresistible dish!
The "Black-ink Donburi" (1,705 yen including tax) is limited to 15 servings per day. Even though it is called "black-ink" it is the same as the "red-ink Donburi" in that it is made without considering profitability. On the contrary, it is a great deal as it comes with five large tempura pieces of snow crab claws and legs.
"Since we have red and black, let's make a white one too!" was the idea behind the creation of the "Shirojidon" (1,350 yen including tax). It comes with two extra-large slices of teriyaki pork shoulder loin and is drizzled in wasabi mayonnaise. It's a beautifully colored dish.
And finally, the "Ki-don" (1,300 yen including tax) was born. It is pronounced "kiiro-don." It is a large pork cutlet covered in demi-glace sauce and even has a fried egg on top. And have you noticed by now? The name of the bowl matches the color of the bowl and the tray, a very intricate touch!
During the interview, we visited with several people and shared all the bowls, and they were all delicious. The batter was crispy, the sauce was tasty, and we were full and happy. There are quite a few seats on the first and second floors, but it's no wonder they are almost always full during business hours.
These four rice bowls are worth waiting in line for, so be sure to try them when you visit Naganuma Town.
