Chitose City

There are no scenic outdoor baths, no trendy saunas, just indoor baths at this day-trip hot spring facility. Despite this, there is a hot spring in Chitose City that is very popular among hot spring fans from all over Japan. We explored the secret of why this facility, called "Natural Hot Spring Kurumi no Yu," is so popular.

A small hot spring facility standing alone in the middle of a wide expanse of rice paddies. It is located in a place you would never visit unless your purpose is to take a bath here.
The quality of the spring water is probably the primary reason why hot spring enthusiasts speak so highly of this onsen. The hot water, which is the color of dark oolong tea, seems to gently and thickly cling to the skin. Even if you don't know anything about the technical details, you will feel comfortable just soaking in the hot water and know that your body is happy.
Moreover, the hot spring water is not pumped up but gushes out naturally, and its volume is 900 liters per minute, or 1,296,000 liters in a day. The alkaline nature of the water helps to remove unwanted keratin from the skin, and its low tonicity makes it hard to get burned by the hot water.
Since the temperature of the spring is low at 25.7°C, it is heated, and bathtubs of 41°C and 43°C are available. It is good for people with small children to enjoy without difficulty.
Incidentally, although it began operating in 1988, it was initially a welfare facility available only to association members and users of the public farm who paid a fee. For a long time, the general public could not enter even if they wanted to, and only rumors spread about the quality of the springs, attracting the keen attention of hot spring fans from all over the country.
Then, with the reopening in 2017, the public was finally able to use the facility. The spa is as wonderful as the rumors say, and is still a highly popular hot spring facility today.

Why not visit the natural hot spring Kurumi no Yu, which for nearly 30 years has been a mirage for ordinary hot spring fans? It will not only warm your body, but also provide you with a good source of conversation!
