1. Kamui Ski Links (Asahikawa City)

Kamui Ski Links is a ski resort with a 600-meter vertical drop and a longest run of 4,000 meters. With eight varied courses, including groomed runs, mogul courses, and deep powder areas, it offers fun for everyone from beginners to advanced riders. The rental shop is well-stocked, so you don't have to worry if you come empty-handed or forget something. There are also three dining areas where you can enjoy a meal while gazing at the slopes.

2. Pippu Ski Area (Pippu Town)

Pippu Ski Area offers a panoramic view of the Kamikawa Basin, with the Daisetsuzan Mountain Range, known as the "roof of Hokkaido," in the background. Boasting the largest slopes in Northern Hokkaido, it features nine varied courses that will satisfy everyone from beginners to seasoned veterans. You can enjoy light, fluffy powder snow while surrounded by vast, beautiful nature.

3. Asahikawa Santa Present Park (Asahikawa City)

This ski resort is easily accessible from JR Asahikawa Station. It offers a variety of courses for everyone, from easy slopes for beginners to challenging runs for advanced and experienced skiers. The rental shop is well-equipped with gear, apparel, and accessories. In addition to skis and snowboards, you can also rent sleds and snowscoots. Night skiing, with a panoramic view of Asahikawa city, is also highly recommended.

4. Nayoro Piyashiri Ski Resort (Nayoro City)

Piyashiri Ski Resort is renowned for having some of the best quality snow in Japan. With nine diverse courses, you can choose a run based on your skill level, or simply based on the day's snow conditions and your mood. Not only can you enjoy skiing and snowboarding, but if you're lucky, you might even witness a "sun pillar" phenomenon.

5. Horotachi Kokusetu Ski Area (Horokanai Town)

A popular ski resort for all levels, from beginners to experts, thanks to its beautiful natural surroundings and challenging steep slopes. As one of the snowiest areas in Hokkaido, it gets plenty of snowfall. The cold nights in Horokanai Town create light, fluffy powder snow with almost no moisture. The resort has four courses from beginner to advanced, and the ungroomed sections of the slopes are a true paradise for powder hounds.

6. Wassamu Higashiyama Ski Area (Wassamu Town)

Located almost halfway between Asahikawa and Nayoro, Wassamu Higashiyama Ski Area is a powder snow paradise. The courses are enjoyable for all levels, from beginners to experts. The tree-lined run from the No. 2 lift is a dynamic and thrilling course. Access is very convenient, located just 5 minutes from the Wassamu Interchange on the expressway.

7. Tenbozan Ski Area (Rishiri Town)

This is the only ski resort in Rishiri Town, offering a panoramic view of the Sea of Japan from its summit. On a clear day, you can even see Rebun Island. The slopes are equipped with night lighting, so you can also enjoy night skiing.

8. Esashi Mikasayama Ski Area (Esashi Town)

A ski resort where you can enjoy skiing while gazing out at the white expanse of drift ice below. From early February, when the drift ice reaches the coast, you can ski with a unique view only possible in a town facing the Sea of Okhotsk. The course design is another highlight, with everything from a long beginner's course to an advanced course with a 26-degree slope.

9. Haboro Town Ski Area "View" (Haboro Town)

Haboro Town Ski Area "View" features two courses with views of the vast Sea of Japan and beautiful winter scenery. The courses are designed for beginner to intermediate levels, and there is also a hill for sledding and other snow play. The resort is equipped for night skiing, and the breathtaking night view from the summit makes it a great spot for friends, families, and even romantic dates.

10. Inosawa Citizen's Ski Area (Asahikawa City)

Inosawa Citizen's Ski Area is the only municipal ski area in Asahikawa City. Located just a 20-minute drive from central Asahikawa and right next to the Kamui residential area, it's easily accessible and has been loved by locals for years. The beginner-friendly course is also suitable for children, making it the perfect place for first-timers or those still getting used to the slopes to practice.

11. Hinata Ski Area (Shibetsu City)

Though small, this ski area offers fun for everyone from beginners to experts. Ski and snowboard rentals are available, and snowscoots are also permitted. Night skiing on the high-quality powder snow is also recommended. After skiing, you can enjoy a meal and soothe your tired muscles at the nearby Hinata Onsen.

12. Kamoidake Kokusai Ski Area (Utashinai City)

This is one of the largest ski resorts in the Sorachi region, located on Mt. Kamoi. Its varied terrain is perfect for all levels and is popular not only with skiers but also with snowboarders and cross-country skiers, allowing everyone to fully enjoy winter sports in the great outdoors. The adjoining hot spring hotel is perfect for relaxing after a long day on the slopes.

13. Nakatonbetsu Kotobuki Ski Area (Nakatonbetsu Town)

This ski resort takes advantage of Nakatonbetsu's heavy snowfall, allowing you to experience fresh powder. It offers a wide variety of courses, including advanced, intermediate, and family courses, as well as cross-country, fresh snow, and snowboard-only courses. There's also a cafeteria with a variety of warm dishes to heat you up, making it a great place for families and friends to enjoy.

14. Toumayama Ski Area (Toma Town)

The lush Mt. Touma transforms into a ski slope in winter. It features a course with a maximum run of 240 meters and a maximum gradient of 17 degrees, along with a free rope tow. The gentle, wide course is safe for beginner skiers and snowboarders, and there is also a dedicated sledding course for children.

15. Obira Boyodai Ski Area (Obira Town)

A ski resort with a stunning location overlooking the Obira townscape and the Sea of Japan. The slopes offer excellent snow quality and are enjoyable for everyone from beginners and families to advanced riders. Snowboarding is also permitted. The lodge has a shop and a cafeteria where you can take a break and relax.

16. Otoineppu Fuji Ski Area (Otoineppu Village)

This village-run ski area is located in Otoineppu, Hokkaido's smallest village. It features beginner to advanced courses and a tree-lined course. A great plus for snowboarders is that snowboarding is permitted on all courses. Night skiing is also available on the beginner to advanced courses, offering a different view from the daytime.

17. Shimokawa Ski Area (Shimokawa Town)

A compact, family-friendly ski resort with a course perfect for children. There is also a free ski rope tow, and on weekends, many families come to enjoy skiing. Although small, the resort also has three ski jumping hills next to the ski area.

18. Hokuryu Town Ski Area (Hokuryu Town)

This is a handmade ski resort, established in 1968 when elementary school PTA members and teachers worked together to clear the mountain of trees and roots to create the slope. It features a beginner-friendly powder snow slope and offers night skiing, making it perfect for families and for practicing to improve your skills.

19. Toyotomi Onsen Ski Area (Toyotomi Town)

Located near an onsen (hot spring) town, this ski area is recommended for beginners and families. It has three courses—advanced, intermediate, and beginner—and is equipped with night lighting and a lift. On clear days, you can see Mt. Rishiri, and after skiing, you can relax at the nearby Toyotomi Onsen.

20. ASHIMOI KANKO Takaho Ski Area (Numata Town)

A safe and comfortable ski area perfect for families. It reopened in 2022 after renovations, replacing the old single-chair lift with a new double-chair lift. While it's a family-friendly resort for beginners, the relocated lift offers a slightly different experience than before. The rest area in the lodge has also been expanded for more comfort.

21. Shokanbetsudake Ski Area (Mashike Town)

A ski area in a spectacular location, with the snow-covered Mt. Shokanbetsu and the deep blue Sea of Japan. With six courses, including a snowboard course, you can fully enjoy exhilarating downhill runs and kicking up powder snow, satisfying everyone from beginners to experts.

22. Asahi Ski Area (Shibetsu City)

A ski resort for all levels, from beginners to experts, where snowboarding is permitted on all slopes. There are two courses, Course A and Course B. The resort is also equipped with lighting for night skiing, and the Asahi Alpine Ski Competition is held here in early February.
