The official name of the shop is "PIZZERIA ASTRA," but it's affectionately known simply as "ASTRA." Nestled among the charming souvenir shops typical of an onsen town, this stylish pizzeria suddenly catches your eye, guaranteed to pique the interest of any tourist passing by.
The owner, Daiki Osaka, experienced a culture shock when he visited Italy while honing his skills as a pizzaiolo and discovered that you could get a delicious pizza for just 500 yen.
Inspired by this, he started with a food truck in Japan to make pizza more accessible. He gradually built a following of fans who started asking him to open a permanent shop so they could enjoy his pizza anytime. In response to their requests, he decided to set up a shop in his hometown of Noboribetsu.
ASTRA offers over 15 types of pizza, all made from scratch daily using an original recipe. Thanks to the owner Mr. Osaka's generosity, even a large pizza is priced in the 1,000-yen range. The top recommendation is the "Ultimate Margherita" (M/¥1,300 tax incl., L/¥1,980 tax incl.).
This pizza is an irresistible combination of the refreshing taste of fresh tomatoes and the rich flavor of fresh Hokkaido cheese. By the way, there are other Margherita varieties like the "Margherita" and "Margherita EX," which shows that it's truly their star, signature menu item.
If you want to savor the deliciousness of Hokkaido cheese even more, we recommend the "Shiranuka Meikeisha Mozzarella Cheese Caprese" (¥980 tax incl.). The fresh cheese from Shiranuka Meikeisha, carefully selected from the many Hokkaido cheeses available, is a must-try, even for those who aren't cheese aficionados.
And what goes best with pizza and Caprese? A delicious beer, of course! Here, you can enjoy the local Noboribetsu craft beer, "Oni Densetsu" (¥850 tax incl.). To top it all off, a specialty coffee after your meal would make it a perfect experience.
