Former Kamuikotan Station

In 1898, the railway line opened from Sorachida (present-day Takikawa) to Asahikawa. In 1901, it was established as Kamuikotan Nukui Station, and in 1902, it became Kamuikotan Station. After that, in 1969, a tunnel was built between Nouchi and Ina Station on the Hakodate Main Line, and the station was used as an actual station building until it was closed.

It was restored in 1989 based on its appearance when the station was abandoned, and in the same year was designated as a cultural asset by Asahikawa City as a valuable piece of Western-style architecture from the Meiji period. Today, it is loved by many people as one of the scenic spots of Kamuikotan, and also as a rest area on the Asahikawa Cycling Road.
