Long ago, when this Ishikari Plain was a sea, the native people in this vicinity called this mountain "Chisenesiri," or "house-shaped mountain.
One day, a great storm hit the sea, and the people were almost swept away by the waves, but with the blessing of the gods, they escaped to the mountain and were saved. People thought that the mountain had the strength of a male god and the kindness of a goddess, so the high mountain was called "Pinneshiri" (male mountain) and the low mountain was called "Matsuneshiri" (female mountain).

I encourage everyone to climb Pinneshiri. You will enjoy the magnificent scenery.
