Takeshiro Matsuura, an explorer who laid the foundation for the development of Hokkaido in the Edo period, is the godfather of "Hokkaido. His book "Kusuri Nisshi" describes how he was impressed by the rich nature of Lake Akan when he visited its shores. This monument is located a 2-minute walk from the Akankohan Eco-museum Center, entering the "Bokke Yudo" (Bokke Trail).
