Floating Island Park

面積3.3㎢の「うぐい沼」を中心に整備された自然あふれる公園。
Area 3.3 sq km's "Ugai Marsh" centering on maintained nature-overflowing park.

沼には昔々竜神が住んでいたという伝説が残り、アイヌの時代から「カムイ・ルル・トウ=神が魚をもってくる沼」と呼び大切にされてきた。
In the marsh, long, long ago, a dragon god lived, such a legend remains, and from the Ainu era, it has been called "Kamuy Rur Tou = Marsh where God brings fish" and has been treasured.

水面に大小数個のハンの木やヤチダモが生い茂る浮島が点在し、風と共に湖面をゆったり静かに漂う風向明媚な佇まいを見せる。
On the water surface, several large and small alder trees and Japanese ash growing thickly floating islands are dotted, and with the wind, they show a scenic appearance, leisurely and quietly drifting on the lake surface.

沼の周囲は歩道が整備されており、20~30分程度で一周できるので森林浴にピッタリ。
The marsh's surroundings, a walking path is maintained, and in about 20~30 minutes, one can make a circuit, so for forest bathing, it is perfect.

春は湿原に群生する水芭蕉のほか、黄色い花をつけた「エゾノリュウキンカ(ヤチブキ)」が咲き、道内随一の名所となっている。
In spring, in the wetland, besides skunk cabbage growing in clusters, "Ezo no Ryukinka (Yachibuki)" which bears yellow flowers blooms, and it has become the unparalleled famous place within Hokkaido.

秋は沼を取り囲む木々が色づき紅葉散策も楽しめる。
In autumn, the trees surrounding the marsh change color, and autumn foliage walks can also be enjoyed.

周辺は野鳥の宝庫としても知られ、クマゲラ・カワセミ・ヤマセミ等が生息し、渡り鳥の中継地にもなっている。
The surroundings are also known as a treasure trove of wild birds, and black woodpeckers ・ common kingfishers ・ crested kingfishers etc. inhabit, and it has also become a stopover point for migratory birds.

敷地内にBBQもできる東家やトイレも整備されており、ピクニックにもおすすめ。
Within the premises, a gazebo where BBQ is also possible and toilets are also maintained, and it is also recommended for picnics.
