Tatezozan Park <Kariba-Mozuta Provincial Natural Park>

This 95-meter-high mountain (hill) was developed as a park on the first coastal terrace and was named "Tatezozan" because it resembles a standing giant elephant. There is a campground and an observatory from which visitors can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the mountains surrounding the Setana area from the sea to the mountains, including the Setana urban area, Mount Kariba and Mount Yurakubedake, windmills, and on clear days, Okushiri Island off the Japan Sea. On clear days, you can see Okushiri Island off the coast of the Sea of Japan. At night from summer to autumn, you can see the fantastic sight of squid fishing fires floating offshore. There is a walking trail behind the Jibira Shrine at the foot of the mountain that leads to the summit in about 20 to 30 minutes. The trail is short but steep, so those who are confident with their feet and legs should definitely give it a try. The entire park area is designated as part of the "Kariba-Motsuta Provincial Natural Park. The park is not cleared of snow during the winter and may be inaccessible, so please be careful.
