SPOT
Cape Kimuaneppu
Cape Kimuaneppu, stretching like a terrace to the southeast of Lake Saroma, is the point at which you can enjoy a spectacular view of Lake Saroma. The sunset over Lake Saroma, in particular, has earned a reputation as one of the best sunsets in Japan.
Like the sunset, Lake Saroma is also a treasure trove of native flora that should not be missed. From early summer to autumn, colorful flowers and grasses change one after another, and about 50 species bloom in profusion, including coral grasses, which dye the earth red, as well as honeysuckle, calyx, and iris, among others.
As winter approaches, flocks of swans fly to Lake Saroma to rest their wings and can be seen up close.
