A town blessed by the Sea of Japan's unique rocks and rich bounty.

Population:6,700
Setana Town was formed on September 1, 2005, through the merger of the former Kitahiyama Town, Setana Town, and Taisei Town. It is located in the southwestern part of Hokkaido, in the northern part of the Hiyama Subprefecture, facing the Sea of Japan. It borders Shimamaki Village to the north, Imakane Town to the east, and Yakumo Town to the south, with Okushiri Island visible across the Sea of Japan to the west.
The first-class Shiribeshi-Toshibetsu River flows between the mountainous regions that spread across the northern and southern parts of the town. The north features thousand-meter-class mountains, including Mt. Kariba (1,520m), the highest peak in southern Hokkaido. The south has a range of mountains such as Mt. Yurappu (1,277m) and Mt. Shiramizu (1,136m). The approximately 78km coastline is adorned with countless unique rock formations and steep cliffs, creating a powerful and beautiful landscape woven by the majestic nature and the Sea of Japan.
Blessed with the sea, mountains, hot springs, and nature, Setana Town is also rich in the bounty of the mountains and sea, and produces many processed goods that make the most of these ingredients.
The coastline of the Sea of Japan, a work of art created by nature with its rich variety, has become a mecca for marine sports and swimming. The town is also blessed with magnificent mountain scenery and greenery, and has an abundance of tourist and leisure spots such as beautiful rivers, valleys, waterfalls, and parks.
Setana Town aims to be a town that values human interaction by further utilizing these rich and beautiful natural, tourism, and recreational resources.
