Tobetsu Town

Do you know where the nearest roadside station is from the center of Sapporo? The correct answer is "Hokuou no Kaze: Michi-no-Eki Toubetsu" (Roadside Station Toubetsu) in Toubetsu Town. It takes about 40 minutes from Sapporo by car. And there are many reasons why you should go all the way here!

Michi-no-Eki Toubetsu opened in September 2017. The reason it has "Nordic Wind" in its name is because Toubetsu is a sister city to Leksand, Sweden. The large triangular roof gives it a truly Swedish feel.

Once inside, the wood-based open-air structure makes you feel excited and uplifted just by being here.

You will spend a lot of time just looking at the local vegetables produced in Tobetsu and the surrounding towns, goods by craftsmen active in the town, Scandinavian goods with a horse motif, and original products made from Tobetsu's specialties.

Fresh local vegetables can be purchased at the "Agricultural Produce Direct Sales" in the annex except during the winter season. The town of Tobetsu is known as "Sapporo's kitchen" and produces a wide variety of agricultural products in abundance.

After all, when it comes to roadside stations, it is the gourmet food that is the most exciting part! First of all, I would like to recommend "Cafe Terzina. It is produced by Chef Hideki Horikawa of Trattoria Terzina, one of Hokkaido's leading Italian restaurants.

You can enjoy authentic pasta and baked risotto with homemade bread for only 1,100 yen including tax. For example, here is the menu: .......

Shrimp with Tomato Cream Sauce. The pasta is a trinity of shrimp flavor, rich cream, and the freshness of tomatoes, making you happy with just one bite.

Spice-Scented Braised Beef Soup. The beef tenderloin stewed in a sauce with spices is a must-try. By the way, the accompanying bread is also a perfect match with the aroma of basil.

Now let's take a look at the menus of the take-out and eat-in restaurants. First is Restaurant Ari. The sign says "Piadina Specialty Restaurant. What is a piadina really?

Piadina is a traditional Italian national dish made of thin, round, baked dough and various ingredients. The "Salmon Piadina" (650 yen including tax), inspired by the bouquet of Tobetsu, a town of flowers, is popular here. It is healthy and full of vegetables!

Next to Restaurant Ari is "Koujin CUP STORE. This store offers soba noodles and soup in a cup, which were invented by a vegetable sommelier, for easy consumption.

One of the most popular dishes is "Tokibito and Cheese Soup Curry" (580 yen including tax). Seasonal vegetables from Tobetsu Town are sent directly from the farmers who cooperate with us, making it easy to enjoy the delicious taste of local vegetables.

Next door is Smile Kitchen. Next door is Smile Kitchen, which offers a menu featuring Asano Farm's brand "SPF Pork.

The signature dish is the "Pork Pull Bowl" (photo: medium size/500 yen including tax). It has a light taste and the sweetness peculiar to pork can be felt well. For those who want to feel the flavor of pork more directly, we also recommend the "Dodeka Pork Skewer" (420 yen including tax)!

For dessert after your meal, visit the "SWEETS" cafe.

What makes the biggest impact is the "Swedish Soft" (380 yen including tax), which is inspired by the Swedish flag! The blue part is "Amazake Blue" with a hint of amazake flavor, and the yellow part is "Elder Yellow" with a muscat-like aroma; the two flavors mix perfectly to create a unique and delicious taste.

Speaking of desserts, you cannot miss the "cup dango" (249 yen including tax) made in the workshop of Ichikyu Daifukudo, which is located next to the station. The freshly pounded dumplings made from rice produced in Tobetsu-cho have a chewy texture and can be eaten on the spot or taken out!

You may also be interested in the specialties that make great souvenirs. At the TOBEST SHOP, located near the entrance, you will find a variety of products from the TOBEST brand, which conveys the lifestyle of Tobetsu.

The best-selling item is the "Mix it and it's Black Bean Rice Stock" (540 yen including tax). As the name implies, just mix one can of this with two cups of cooked rice, and you have a delicious black bean rice dish! It tastes great even when cold.

We have already introduced the charms of Michi no Eki Tobetsu to you. You may be thinking, "I'm full! but let me tell you one last thing.

The restrooms, which are open 24 hours a day, are really clean and shiny! The cleanliness of the toilets here, which are thoroughly cleaned in every nook and cranny, has even become a secret topic of conversation. This is actually a very important point, isn't it?

Please visit Michi no Eki Toubetsu, where even the toilets are excellent.
