In Goryokaku Park, approximately 1,500 cherry trees bloom in spring. At the end of the season, falling cherry blossoms cover the surface of the moat with petals called "hanayakada," which is a different view from when the blossoms are in bloom. In addition to cherry blossoms, other flowers such as azaleas, azaleas, and water lilies are also available, and jogging and walking are recommended along the 1,800-meter promenade that circles the outer moat.

The Matsumae Domain built this camp to strengthen the defense of the Ezo region following the opening of the port of Hakodate. The beautiful tunnel lined with cherry trees leading to the camp ruins is known as a cherry blossom viewing spot. The area is maintained as a historic site park, and visitors can take a walk inside the camp, which retains the atmosphere of those days, and enjoy the scenery that changes with the seasons.

3 A leisurely stroll under a tunnel of cherry blossoms "Cherry Trees along the Ono River (Hokuto City)
About 100 cherry trees, mainly Somei-Yoshino cherry trees, line both sides of the Hongo-Kawaramachi Dori Line, a town road running north-south along the Ono River, creating a 300-meter cherry blossom tunnel from late April to early May from Honmachi Seseragi Park to the Sports Center. The sweet scent of cherry blossoms makes the walk a special experience.

4 Weeping cherry trees as beautiful as a Japanese painting "Hokkameji weeping cherry tree (Hokuto City)" which is 300 years old
The weeping cherry trees on the grounds of Hokkame-ji Temple bloom beautifully in spring. The weeping cherry tree is said to be more than 300 years old and stands about 12 meters tall. The branches are well spread out, and the full blossoms on the drooping branches are a sight to behold.

5 "Trappist Monastery (Hokuto City)," a late-blooming cherry tree that can be seen in southern Hokkaido
Visitors can enjoy late-blooming cherry blossoms at the Trappist Monastery. Although the monastery is located in the southern area of Hokkaido, where spring comes early, it is planted with a late-blooming variety of cherry trees, which start blooming when all the other cherry blossom viewing spots in the city have finished. Visitors can see cherry trees such as Naden, Fugensou, and Amayadori.

A row of cherry trees stretches about 1.8 kilometers along Highway 96. The 1,000 Someiyoshino cherry trees and mountain cherry trees planted as part of a greening project by local residents to make the area famous for its cherry blossoms are in full bloom. 7 Cherry blossom viewing camp under the cherry blossoms "Kamiiso Dam Park (Hokuto City)
The cherry blossom season at Kamiiso Dam Park usually lasts from early May to the end of May. During the season, many kinds of cherry trees bloom, including Daisen cherry, Somei-Yoshino, Kanzan, Nanden, Fugenzo, and Ukon. The park can also be used as a campground, and the colorful hydrangeas that bloom around August are also popular.

8 "Hachironuma Park," a luxurious resting place to view cherry blossoms by the swamp
A place of rest and relaxation filled with nature and the gentle scent of cherry blossoms blooming in the park in spring. It is a cherry blossom viewing spot where families can relax and enjoy the cherry blossoms. In early spring, fir (fir) flowers begin to bloom, followed by cherry blossoms and azaleas, and from early summer to fall, when the greenery is green, water lilies are in full bloom.

9 "Matsumae Park (Matsumae Town)", a living cherry blossom viewing area where you can also appreciate Matsumae-born cherry trees.
Matsumae Park is a large area that includes Matsumae Castle, the temple town, and the tourist facility "Matsumae Han Yashiki". The park is famous for its cherry blossoms, with 10,000 cherry trees of about 250 varieties coloring the park. The beauty of the combination of the castle and cherry blossoms, the "Cherry Blossom Sample Garden," which is a living illustrated book of cherry blossoms, and the Cherry Blossom Museum, which is open during the Sakura Festival, make this a spot not to be missed by those who love cherry blossoms.

10 Ryuunin (Matsumae-cho), a famous Ezo kasumizakura cherry tree that can only be seen here.
Ryuunin is the only temple that survived the Hakodate War and was not destroyed by fire. Within its precincts is a famous cherry tree called the Ezo Kasumizakura. Kasumizakura are found throughout Japan, but for historical reasons, Dr. Misao Tatewaki, a botanical taxonomist and former professor at Hokkaido University, named the Kasumizakura on the grounds of Ryuunin "Ezo Kasumizakura".

11 "Kozenji Temple (Matsumae-cho)", a legendary bloodline cherry tree that is still talked about today.
Kozenji Temple is said to have received a mountain name and vestments from Emperor Gosui. In the precincts of the temple, there is a famous cherry tree in the southern part of the temple, the "Blood Vein Cherry Blossom," which has a legend about cherry blossoms. The tree is estimated to be over 300 years old and is the parent tree of the Nandono, a representative cherry tree of Matsumae.

12 Shigenai Shrine and Shigenai Observatory (Chonai-cho), a panoramic view of cherry blossom trees and the Tsugaru Straits
Shigenouchi Shrine and Shigenouchi Observatory offer a panoramic view of the Shigenouchi Plain and the Tsugaru Straits. In spring, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the cherry blossom trees, about 500 in full bloom along a 3-km straight road.

13 Aobagaoka Park (Morimachi): Various kinds of cherry blossoms in full bloom in a park with a long history
Aobagaoka Park is home to approximately 1,000 cherry trees of seven varieties, including Someiyoshino cherry trees, and some endemic species such as "Mori Komachi. The "Cherry Blossom Festival" held every May attracts more than 100,000 cherry blossom viewers. In addition to the cherry blossoms, the "Kayabe Chestnut Grove" in the park is designated as a natural monument of Hokkaido.

The park is also home to a roadside station, and its location along the national highway makes it a popular rest stop for road trippers. 16 Beautiful contrast between the sea and weeping cherry blossoms "Hokke-ji Temple (Esashi Town )
Hokke-ji Temple has a large weeping cherry tree in its precincts, and every year around Golden Week, the entire large tree is in full bloom. Located on a hill, the temple is a popular spot for viewing the beautiful contrast between the gate of Hiyama Magistrate's Office, the oldest building in Hokkaido, and the sea.

In spring, cherry blossoms and azaleas are in full bloom, and in summer, beautiful flowers of water lilies and irises adorn the waterside of the pond surrounded by natural stones. The park is a large comprehensive park with a walking trail "Tomino Forest" where you can enjoy forest bathing with a great view, playground equipment facilities, and sports facilities such as tennis courts next to the park.
