The 67th Sapporo Lilac Festival 2025 (Sapporo): Enjoy Wine and Music Under the Sweet Scent of Lilacs

This spring tradition heralds the arrival of early summer in Sapporo. The 77th Matsumae Cherry Blossom Festival (Matsumae): The Contrast of 10,000 Cherry Trees and Matsumae Castle

At the Matsumae Cherry Blossom Festival, held in Japan's northernmost castle town of Matsumae, about 10,000 cherry trees bloom in a variety of colors over a month. Against the backdrop of a vast golden canola field, a gourmet festival featuring local ingredients will be held. The 41st Higashimokoto Shibazakura Festival (Ozora): 10 Hectares of Pink Moss Phlox

The "Higashimokoto Shibazakura Festival" is held at Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park. Hokuto Cherry Blossom Corridor (Hokuto): A Spectacular Weeping Cherry Tree Over 300 Years Old

This event allows you to enjoy fantastical cherry blossom scenery, including the weeping cherry tree at Hoki-ji Temple, which is over 300 years old, the cherry blossom tunnel at the Matsumae-han Hekirichi Jinya-ato (historical site), the cherry tree-lined Onogawa River, and the thousand cherry trees of Kiyokawa. The 76th Morimachi Cherry Blossom Festival (Mori): The Collaboration of Mt. Komagatake and About 1,000 Cherry Trees

The "Morimachi Cherry Blossom Festival," held at Morimachi Aobagaoka Park, features about 1,000 cherry trees of 17 varieties, including Somei Yoshino, blooming beautifully over two weeks. A special venue will be set up where you can enjoy a variety of events, including a singing show, a karaoke scoring battle, and a Ban'ei horse race tournament. The 76th Akkeshi Cherry Blossom and Oyster Festival (Akkeshi): Savor Akkeshi's Famous Oysters and Clams

The "Akkeshi Cherry Blossom and Oyster Festival" is where you can savor Akkeshi's famous products, fresh oysters, clams, and other seafood, grilled over charcoal under the cherry blossoms. Various events are held, including a clam-grabbing and oyster-grabbing event for children, and live performances. You can also enjoy highballs made with Akkeshi's exclusive whiskey. At night, the Kakijima Benten Shrine is lit up, coloring the spring evening.

The festival venue, Nijukken Road Cherry Blossom Avenue, is one of Japan's premier cherry blossom spots, stretching for about 7km in a straight line. About 2,000 cherry trees, mainly Ezo mountain cherries, dye the area in a sea of pink. In addition, there will be stalls selling specialty products, pony interaction experiences, and other programs that families can enjoy.

2025 Fairytale Village Takinoue Shibazakura Festival (Takinoue): View the Pink Carpet from a Helicopter

This festival is held when a carpet of moss phlox (shibazakura) colors the park. During the period, there are plenty of family-friendly events, including the "Phlox Marche" with food, markets, and workshop experiences, as well as mini-concerts and a gathering of local mascots. Furthermore, from May 17th to 27th, you can enjoy a stunning aerial view of the moss phlox with the "Takinoue Shibazakura SKY Cruise" by helicopter.
