SPOT
Bankei no Mori Sapporo Bankei Ski Resort
Good access for a casual drop-in after work. A "empty-handed package" that includes a rental set and lift ticket is also available.
Close to the center of Sapporo and open for night skiing until 10 p.m., this ski resort is highly popular as a place where businessmen can casually drop by after work even on weekdays. The 17 courses range from gentle slopes for families to the FIS-certified ban.k mogul course, the site of the 2017 Winter Asia Sapporo Winter Games, and the ban.k halfpipe, the largest in Japan. The slopes are divided into two areas: the East Area with unpressurized snow surface centered on the Center Lodge, and the West Area for families to enjoy.
Wakuwaku Snowland," located in a safe area separate from the general slopes, is ideal for tourists and children with no prior skiing experience to enjoy a variety of snow activities such as tube sliding. There are also plans available for beginners, such as the "empty-handed package" that includes a lift ticket and a complete set of equipment and wear.
The Center Lodge is the main lodge, made of larch and surrounded by the warmth of wood and a fireplace. A day-care room with full-time staff is a great facility for those with children. Not only does it overlook the ski slopes, but you can also play outside in the snow park.
