Asarigawa Hot Spring

A 30-minute drive from the city center in the direction of Sapporo is Asarigawa Hot Spring, known as the backwater of Otaru, surrounded by mountains on three sides.
It is called "Deer Dance Ground" because deer used to gather here to bathe in the hot spring, and it has long been said to have hot springs.

The spring's sodium calcium chloride content is said to be effective in relieving muscular pain, neuralgia, and fatigue.
Further in the back, a loop bridge leads to the height of the Asari Dam.
Along the way, the view overlooking the hot spring resort is spectacular, and you can even see the ocean.

The Asato Dam, completed in the fall of 1993, is an artificial lake created by a dam and named "Lake Otarunai" after a public contest.
The area around Lake Otalunai has been developed as a lakeside park, with a recreation zone and picnic zone where families can enjoy walks and picnics, a play zone for tennis and gateball, and facilities such as the Dam Memorial Hall, which attracts many people.
There are also sports facilities around the hot spring resort area, where visitors can enjoy golf in the summer and skiing in the winter.
After sports, it is also a great time to take a dip in a hot spring to work up a sweat and enjoy the local cuisine made with fresh and abundant wild vegetables and seafood.
