Sapporo International Ski Resort
A comprehensive ski resort close to Jozankei Onsen that can be enjoyed by beginners and advanced skiers alike
Located about an hour's drive from Sapporo city, this ski resort boasts some of Hokkaido's best powder snow and expansive slopes. Among the ski resorts near Sapporo, it has the longest operating season, typically open from mid-November to early May. It has seven courses for beginners to advanced skiers, as well as a snow park where you can enjoy sledding and tubes. The beginner-friendly "Rinkan-Merhen Course" is a challenging 3.6-kilometer long course. Mogul skiers can enjoy the downhill course with a maximum slope of 30 degrees, while snowboarders can enjoy the board park, which is equipped with jumps such as tabletops. If you're returning via the Minami Ward route, a nice perk is the opportunity to soak in Jozankei Onsen along the way.
Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort offers skiing and snowboarding on a wide slope with a maximum run length of 3.6 kilometers. There are seven diverse courses, ranging from a wide family course over 100 meters wide to a dynamic downhill course for advanced skiers. The summit is 1,100 meters above sea level, and the views are also great. In addition to the eight-seater gondola that takes you nonstop from the base to the summit and the four-seater lift that is convenient for beginner and intermediate skiers, first-time skiers and snowboarders can also use the snow escalator to practice on the gentle slopes.
You can enjoy a variety of gourmet foods at Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort. Our top recommendation is the famous curry ramen at the family restaurant Rabbit at the foot of the slopes. It's a hearty bowl of ramen with spices that will warm your chilled body. You can also enjoy authentic homemade pizza made with cheese from Kuromatsunai. Be sure to stop by Cafe Cuckoo at the top of the mountain. The counter seats offer a beautiful view.
The rental service, which allows you to enjoy skiing and snowboarding empty-handed, is also popular. In addition to ski and snowboard sets, there is a wide selection of ski and snowboard gear, including tops and bottoms, hats, gloves, goggles, and helmets! Another attractive feature is the wide range of sizes available! Another great thing is that no reservations are required.
