■What is Takise Beach "Shirafura"?
Takise Coast, which has long been affectionately known as "Shirafura," meaning "white slope," features 20m-high white cliffs that stretch for about 500m, forming a beautiful, exotic coastline. It is said that these white cliffs were formed when layers of pumice that were ejected from a volcanic eruption about 5 million years ago piled up on the seabed and then rose up. Today, it is a very popular tourist spot.
