SPOT
Otaru Aquarium
An aquarium surrounded by nature that keeps seals and Steller's sea lions in an environment just partitioned off from the Sea of Japan
The aquarium exhibits about 250 species of living creatures, including the harbor porpoise, which is kept only at the Otaru Aquarium in Japan. In addition to performances by penguins, seals, dolphins, and otaries, there are also a variety of shows such as Steller's sea lion diving.
Otaru Aquarium will celebrate its 50th anniversary on July 14, 2024. Various events are scheduled to be held. With an amusement park and restaurant attached, visitors can enjoy the whole day with family and friends.
Recently, the museum has also become a hot topic for its humorous efforts, such as the "Seasonal Oishi Tank," which exhibits edible creatures, and the penguin show in which the penguins do not listen to their keepers at all.
