SPOT
Piraoro Observatory
This is the best place to see Lake Saroma from the lakeside. It is said that Ainu people used to watch over schools of fish here in the past. "Piraoro" means "a place with cliffs" in the Ainu language (pira = cliff, olo = place). It is also the setting of a tragic love legend between a young Ainu man and a young girl.
