Junichi Watanabe Literature Museum
Learn about bestselling author Junichi Watanabe and the process of creating his works.
Junichi Watanabe, a Naoki Prize-winning author from Hokkaido, has produced numerous bestsellers, including the novel "Shitsurakuen". The museum introduces Watanabe's literature and creative activities through a permanent exhibition room on the second floor, which displays a variety of materials, including treasured items, manuscripts, and photographs that tell stories from his childhood, and a special exhibition room that focuses on specific themes and introduces Watanabe's literature in depth. The works on display range from early medical novels to novels about men and women, biographical novels, and essays, and the "audio guide (fee required)," in which the author himself explains the story behind his debut, is a must-see. A library and coffee shop are also located on the first floor.
