SPOT
Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara
Overview
The first music hall in Hokkaido, located in Nakajima Park, where the bustling downtown area of Susukino and the lush green nature are next to each other. It is also the home of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra. The walls of the building are made entirely of glass, and the large white marble works of art placed on the marble floor are impressive. The three works of art inside and outside the building are "Aikyo" by Kan Yasuda, a sculptor from Bibai City, Hokkaido. The works lead visitors inside to the hall, which is richly decorated with wood and evokes the image of the land and coniferous forests of Hokkaido. The world's rare acoustic equipment suspended from the ceiling of the main hall and a reflector made of four sheets of special plasterboard 10 mm thick create a soft and dignified sound that is unique to Kitara.
