You Won't Be Able to Stop Eating Obihiro's Famous Butadon! [Dropkick on My Devil! X Mame Anime Collaboration (6)]
Today's topic is butadon from Obihiro. Enjoy these photos of the incredibly delicious-looking pork bowls...!
This irresistibly delicious butadon has now become nationally famous as a signature dish of Obihiro.

There's no strict definition of butadon. It's simply grilled pork belly or loin, coated in a sweet and savory soy-based sauce, and served over a bowl of rice. Some restaurants add toppings like shredded green onions or green peas, but the basics are just pork and white rice. Simple is best!

Pig farming has been practiced in the Tokachi region since the late Meiji era (around the early 20th century), making pork a familiar ingredient for locals. Perhaps the creation of butadon was inevitable. It is said to have originated in a diner in Obihiro city during the early Showa era (around the 1930s).

Today, there are many specialty butadon restaurants, and they are all bustling during lunchtime! Each restaurant has its own unique touch—some let you choose between pork belly and loin, while others grill the pork over charcoal. Of course, each has its own special secret sauce.

It's fun to try different places and find your favorite butadon. But no matter where you go, you're guaranteed a delicious meal!
When you visit Obihiro, butadon is a must-try dish.
