Kushiro's original "Robatayaki" born from fresh seafood [Jyakami-chan Dropkick X Mame Anime Collaboration (7)
This time, we will focus on "Robata-yaki" in Kushiro. Just looking at it makes me hungry, as did the pork bowl in Obihiro in the last issue...
Robatayaki in the anime looked very delicious! Robatayaki is a style of grilling fresh seafood over charcoal. Robatayaki of seafood is said to have originated in Kushiro. Some restaurants have a chef grill the food for you, while others allow customers to grill it themselves.
By grilling freshly caught seafood slowly over charcoal, the flavor is concentrated and the juiciness is not compromised. Kushiro boasts one of the largest catches of seafood in Japan, so it is no surprise that the Robata style of grilling seafood, which draws out the best of the ingredients, has taken root in Kushiro.
Not only seafood, but also meat and vegetables are grilled on the same hearth, which makes it easy to drink. What is most wonderful is the warm atmosphere created by the robata grill!
